Runes in the Tarot

Runes in Tarot
Runes translated as "a secret thing, a mystery" are a sacred alphabet used as late as the Middle Ages by the Scandinavians. The secret language of the runes was passed down through the generations from master to apprentice via legominism, or sacred initiations, and their messages were therefore never recorded. For this reason, the wisdom that the runic masters possessed died with them, leaving nothing but the remnants of sagas, or runic lore, and the runes themselves.
Because the runes are an ancient divinatory device predating Christianity's New Testament, they bring into our consciousness a more grounded, earthy value system that portrays their development.

Runes, basically stones with pictorial symbols inscribed on them, are drawn at random to answer specific questions. Like the Tarot, they should not be used too often. The first answer is correct, and repetitive queries regarding the same issue will merely yield misleading results. Because runes and Tarot are both divinatory devices, based on Jung's theory of synchronicity, or meaningful coincidence, they can be linked in meaning to give further clarification in a reading.
